“The former President Park’s ultimate crime is bribery”

Thanks to South Korean peoples’ earnest yearnings towards the regime change, for the first time in our party history, the number of Electoral College applicants is expected to exceed two million. This is truly remarkable.

Democratic Party will not rest until we open a new chapter for Korea through eradication of deeply rooted social ills and national integration to heed the call of 16 million candlelight protesters.

The former President Park is ordered to appear before the prosecutors tomorrow for questioning. The former President is facing thirteen criminal charges. The prosecutors must thoroughly investigate in accordance with the law and principle.

The prosecutors must bear in mind that the South Korean peoples’ distrust towards them still runs high as they had not even made attempts to raid the Blue House.

As the former president Park’s charges include ‘extorting bribes’ and ‘giving and taking bribes under coercion,’ her ultimate crime is ‘bribery.’

The involved conglomerates should not hope for a relatively light penalty by thinking the charges simply would fall into one category or another: “either bribery or extortion.”

At a time when even the president has been ousted, the conglomerates must take on a future-oriented mindset to completely cut all the persisting collusive business-government ties. The conglomerates must understand that only then, can Korean people start to mitigate their distrust towards the chaebols, even if only by a minimal degree.

“박 전 대통령의 죄는 ‘뇌물죄’이다.”

경선 선거인단 모집은, 국민 여러분의 간절한 정권교체 염원 덕분에 정당사상 처음으로 200만 명을 돌파할 것으로 보인다. 대단한 일이다.

우리 당은 1,600만 촛불민심의 명령 그대로 적폐 청산과 국민 통합으로 새로운 대한민국을 향한 걸음을 멈추지 않을 것이다.

박근혜 전 대통령이 내일 검찰에 출두하게 되어 있다. 박 전 대통령이 받고 있는 범죄혐의는 13건이다. 검찰은 법과 원칙에 따라 철저한 수사를 해야 한다.

청와대 압수수색을 시도조차 하지 않았던 검찰에 대한 국민 불신은 여전하다는 점을 검찰은 똑똑히 명심해야 한다.

박 전 대통령의 죄는 ‘뇌물을 강요한 죄’이고, ‘강요로 뇌물을 주고받은 죄’인 것이므로 결국 ‘뇌물죄’이다.

연루된 대기업들은 ‘뇌물죄냐 강요죄냐’의 얄팍한 이분법으로 상대적으로 낮은 처벌을 받겠다는 생각을 접어야 한다.

대통령까지 탄핵된 마당에 과거의 정경유착 관행을 깨끗하게 털고 가겠다는 전향적인 태도를 보여야 한다. 그것이 조금이나마 국민들의 재벌에 대한 불신을 해소하는 길임을 알아야 한다.
